We had the chance to get to know style blogger @maddiebriell. Known for her experimental and 90s inspired style all over Instagram. We explore Maddie's typical day in the life, her favorite place to brunch in Toronto, and how she gets the perfect Instagram pic. Keep reading for more....
How would you describe your style in 3 words?
Comfortable, tomboyish and 90s inspired (that’s technically four words sorry I cheated)
What does a typical day in the life of you look like?
It really depends on the day or what I have going on! I work at a small jewelry company. I run their social media, do e-commerce related tasks, deal with wholesalers, etc. I usually only have to go into the office 3-4 times a week so it definitely gives me a lot of freedom to work on my personal IG which is honestly my favorite thing to do. When I have a day off just to work on that it could include shooting, editing, emails with brands, pitching, coming up with ideas and concepts, etc.
What is your best advice in 4 words?
Don’t sell yourself short
What is your winter fashion essential?
A good jacket/ coat! I love switching between different ones cause it’s really the main thing you see in an outfit in the winter - I love a teddy coat, leather jacket, puffer or faux fur jacket
What do you like most about our teddy coat?
I love that you can dress it up or down! It looks super cute with a tracksuit or casual outfit but you can totally throw it on over a going out look with some booties and cute top too. (Madeline wears a size S/M)
Favorite place to brunch in Toronto?
Hello123 is one of my faves because I’m obsessed with their avocado toast! The whole menu is plant based too so it’s a good option for all the vegan babes.
Top tips for getting the best Insta pics?
Have a clear idea/ concept when going into the shoot and just know what you want the end result to look like. When you have the location, styling, poses, type of shots and overall concept in your head before hand it makes shooting so much quicker. Also have fun with it and play around with different types of shots or ideas, you don’t need to be a professional to get a bomb ass pic
Who are your favorite accounts to follow on Instagram?
@sofiamcoelho and @emmaleger are my two faves! There’s so many more though I could literally list an entire page of girls who inspire me and love following.
Who is your style icon/inspo?
Hailey Bieber! She has the ultimate cool girl style and can do no wrong in my eyes.
Where is your favorite place in the world that you have travelled to?
LA and NYC! I’ve been to both a couple times but they’re my favorite two cities that I know I’ll keep going back to.
Where would you travel to next?
Somewhere warm ideally cause I want an escape from the cold so badly! I haven’t travelled to Europe yet so that’s definitely on my list for (hopefully) sometime this year.
Do you have one ultimate piece in your wardrobe which you could not live without?
My prada bag because I’m so obsessed and wear it with everything
What is something that people may not know about you?
I think that sometimes people can assume that someone who decides to put themselves out there on social media is super confident but confidence doesn’t come naturally to me and is something I’ve learned to become more overtime. As much as I love Instagram and all the opportunities it has brought me, I can find myself comparing, overthinking, questioning myself, thinking I’m not good enough, etc. Not something I really talk about but I’m sure everyone can relate to some degree.
Now, quick fire time!!!
